Upright milling machines (or upright cutters / T-slot cutters) are the simplest pieces of equipment used in the manufacture of PVC and aluminium joinery, yet they are an essential part of any workshop or factory, as they are used to mill the ends of uprights for windows with more than one sash (2-3-4 sashes, etc.) or the transoms on doors. These machines are usually single-motor units, either fitted with 1-2 sets of cutters or featuring a quick-change cutter system, thus allowing work with a wide variety of profile series and brands. Another distinction within the category of mullion milling machines is the drive system; these can be manual or automatic. There are portable mullion milling machines operating on 230 V, but the most popular are bench-mounted mullion milling machines, with motors requiring three-phase power.
